After years of breakdancing around the world, Luis Prado is hosting a qualifying battle for Red Bull BC One.

The San Diego Book Festival is returning August 22, 2026 with more than 145 local and national authors participating as speakers and exhibitors. The annual event will take place on the University of San Diego campus from 10am - 4pm with anticipated attendance of 8,000.

The San Diego Watercolor Society proudly presents the 46th International Exhibition juried by award-winning artist, Ana Laura Salazar. This highly competitive exhibition represents the very best of water-based media art from around the world. The exhibition runs from September 27-October 31, 2026 at our Gallery in The ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. Theater as a Means of Self-Exploration and Reconciliation Join us for a staged-reading presentation of “Pride: Mortal BEINGS part 1,” a one-person play written and performed by Terrell Donnell Sledge, a San Diego actor, writer, director, advocate, empowerment coach and CSUSM theatre arts lecturer. The story is an alternative telling of the fall of Lucifer – from Lucifer’s perspective – hinging on the questions of free will, love, loyalty, suffering, suicide, forgiveness and redemption. After the performance, Sledge will be joined by Stephanie Sledge – an artist, associate clinical social worker and CSUSM alumna – for a conversation about narrative representation and creative expression for self-exploration and healing. Stephanie will interview Terrell about the process of writing the play as a form of self-preservation when he was navigating academic environments prone to stereotyping and erasure of Black male identity. Guests will depart with the building blocks for harnessing their own creativity as a therapeutic tool. We're thrilled to offer an 8-week format of Reflections this Fall! Join us for a series inspired by MCASD's permanent collection and our new exhibition, "Visiones Nocturnas: Queer Nightlife in Contemporary Art!" In these 8 weeks of artmaking, we will consider identity, community, and changing landscapes over time. Using pen and ink, create mixed-media projects that examine the changing landscapes that have shaped our own identities and communities. Multi-disciplinary artist and muralist Thao Huynh French was recently commissioned to create two murals for San Diego Mesa College’s KUP Village in the Student Services building. Thao and her husband founded Mindful Murals and they have painted over 400 murals. Born in Vietnam and raised in California, Thao’s artistic practice is heavily influenced by her Asian American heritage, her experience as a refugee, and an appreciation for nature, particularly flowers, which she considers symbols of resilience and transformation. "Future Flowers: Memory, Meaning, Mischief" is Thao’s debut solo exhibition and it features paintings, interactive installations and archival materials on the theme of refugee history and experiences while providing a place for sharing and connection. The exhibit also delves into Asian American life, cultural memory and nostalgia, which Thao interprets through the use of traditional Vietnamese dresses, Lunar New Year customs and decorations, immigrant food, lively pop culture, and even conflict.
