After the postponement of our previous summer date, Oceanside Intl Film Festival proudly presents the Stephen King's "Thinner" Special Reunion Screening. Save the date for Saturday, January 20, 2024. Brought to you by Visit Oceanside, join us for this exclusive screening at the Star Theatre in Downtown Oceanside. Attending the event are legendary horror director Tom Holland, stars Robert John Burke, Joe Mantegna and monster makeup Artist Vincent J. Guastini. Our screening will include a retrospective Q&A discussion on their careers in filmmaking and a limited meet and greet. In Stephen King's "Thinner", an obese lawyer (Billy Halek, played by Robert John Burke) finds himself growing “Thinner” when a mysterious carny (Michael Constantine) places a hex on him. Now the lawyer must call upon his friends in organized crime (Joe Mantegna) to help persuade the old man to lift the curse. Time is running out for the desperate lawyer as he draws closer to his own death & grows ever thinner by the day.

Taught by a variety of skilled educators and professional artists, your child will explore seasonal crafts, celebrating Winter through a variety of mediums such as woodworking, ceramics, textiles, glass and more. Along the way, we’ll make fun, high-quality crafts kids can take home. Our projects are geared to build and hone skills such as hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, creativity, comprehension + exploration of a variety of materials. Projects and depth of craft exploration are matched up to the child’s age and ability. It’s important that your child bring water in a refillable bottle and a snack (no candy or peanut products please) in case they are hungry or thirsty during this time. In addition, if your child is enrolled in a nearby camp elsewhere in Liberty Station, and they’re camp is ending as ours begins, we are happy to walk your child from their camp to the studio. Miracle Babies, a nonprofit organization whose mission is dedicated to helping perinatal mothers and their families during their time of need by providing transportation, mental health assistance and supportive services, will be hosting its next diaper distribution on Saturday, December 9, from 10 a.m. to Noon, at the Jack in the Box Corporate Office in Kearney Mesa (9357 Spectrum Center Blvd., San Diego, 92123). Registered guests will be able to attend the free diaper distribution from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and it will be open to the public from 11:30 a.m. to Noon. Over 350 local families are anticipated to attend. Registration is open through Friday, December 8 at Noon or until supplies last. Recently, Miracle Babies has received a generous donation of 200 new Jive 2-in-1 convertible car seats from Baby2Baby, a nonprofit organization that provides children living in poverty with diapers, clothing and all the necessities that every child deserves. Miracle Babies is working with hospitals and social workers to identify NICU families making less than 80k per year who will receive these car seats at the distribution. The American Medical Response (AMR) will provide free car seat safety inspections on a limited basis. Families in need of products should register online at the Miracles Babies website to ensure availability of diaper sizes. Diaper donations and volunteers are welcome and accepted at all distributions.
