This workshop does not address how to manage manure compost and focuses on the zoning and regulation requirements for mid-scale compost operations in unincorporated San Diego County. Ukrainian Heritage Celebration 2026 on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Ingram Plaza in Liberty Station. Many of these entrepreneurs came to San Diego after being displaced by the war in Ukraine. They are now rebuilding their lives, establishing local businesses, creating jobs, and sharing Ukrainian food, art, products, and traditions with the broader community. Their journeys offer meaningful local stories of resilience, entrepreneurship, and cultural preservation. Artist Jiyan Rios Zandi built Local Brown Baby as an online space exploring her Mexican and Kurdish heritage. After more than nine years, that community now has a permanent home in Barrio Logan.

This class meets weekly on Mondays, 3-4 times each month, from 4 – 5:30 p.m. Ages 13+ welcome! Instructor-artist Lydia Kardos teaches this introductory ceramic handbuilding course for Teens. This month-long series is full of hands-on, hand building techniques in clay. Students will create functional and non-functional ceramic art. They’ll learn how to create with coils, slab construction and clay pinching methods. See the beauty of the final results as your pieces come out of the kiln. Students will create multiple pieces and learn how to glaze finished artwork. All materials included.
