Join us on October 28 from 7-9:30 p.m. for our next Open Studios. With Halloween on the horizon, guests are encouraged to let their freak flag fly! Ariana Warren and Chris Warren’s musical performance will also be inspired by eerie, otherworldly elements. In honor of Dia de los Muertos, longtime resident artist Felix Diaz is leading our efforts to include some Day of the Dead celebrations and practices, too. * The Diaz Trio will perform a series of SONES, a traditional musical form originating from various regions in Mexico and used for events like Dia de los Muertos. During this lively, rhythmic, and danceable music, the audience is invited and encouraged to participate, thus creating a celebratory atmosphere. * We’ll also have an ofrenda (altar) to honor both loved ones we’ve lost from our own S4A community and pioneering Mexican surrealist women artists. * Tamales, Pan de Muerto (sweet bread), and Café de Olla (spiced coffee) will be available for purchase, along with our usual fare of snacks and beverages. On Friday, October 27 from 7 p.m. ‘till closing, family-owned winery, Pali Wine Co., is throwing “Boos & Bottles,” a natural wine fueled Halloween bash! In the enchanting Little Italy backyard, a live DJ will be on deck from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., spinning hauntingly good tunes for the crowd. It's an opportunity to dance the night away beneath the moon's watchful gaze while enjoying food specials, festive drinks and, of course, wine. Neighborhood Winery, Pali Wine Co.’s creative natural wine label, will be pouring wines for the occasion like “Spooky Juice,” a spellbinding white wine blend, or “Full Moon,” a bewitching red wine capturing the spirit of a North Italian red with a Californian twist. Come dressed in a costume to enjoy happy hour pricing on tap glasses (limit one per guest) to keep spirits high throughout the evening; prizes will be awarded for best costumes! Reservations are available via Tock for this event, but walk-ins are welcome if passersby decide to join on a whim. This month’s Second Tuesday Tastings at Bluewater Boathouse Seafood Grill in the former Hotel del Coronado Boathouse on Coronado Island honors both National Seafood Month in October and the restaurant’s ongoing “Taste of Spain” seasonal culinary focus. For the Oct. 10 Second Tuesday Tasting, local chefs will pair Panko Artichoke Hearts with Brava Sauce and Chipotle Blackened Swordfish with Abadia de San Campio Albarino and Marques de Riscal Verdejo wines from Spain, respectively. The special two-course Oct. 10 dinner with wine pairings is $55 per person. Reservations are encouraged.
