The premier San Diego art exhibition celebrating the work of Black visual artists and creatives. Part of Kinfolk Fest Juneteenth Week. "ONYX: A Black Artist Exhibition" is a celebration of Black creative expression rooted in San Diego. Curated by Imani Camara, the exhibition brings together Black artists who are from or currently based in the city — painters, musicians, visual artists, and storytellers whose work deserves to be seen, documented, and celebrated on its own terms. The exhibition moves beyond singular narratives. Each work on view reflects a distinct voice, medium, and perspective, while contributing to a larger collective portrait of what Black creativity looks like in San Diego today. "ONYX" creates space for ambiguity, experimentation, and personal storytelling — honoring the full depth of each artist's identity rather than flattening it. The title is intentional. Like the stone, "ONYX" speaks to layered identities and the depth formed through connection. It also references discovery — many of the artists featured were found simply through conversation and community, which raises a question the exhibition sits with: how had they not been seen before? This special exhibition date for "ONYX" is part of Kinfolk Fest Week, San Diego's Juneteenth celebration. The San Diego Black art scene is actively taking shape, and this exhibition is both a reflection of that and an investment in it. The hit mobile game Clash of Clans announced it’s taking on San Diego this summer with an interactive challenge room experience: Clash of Clans - Clash for the Stache! The live experience at Seaport Headquarters invites fans to step into a real Clash village to team up for high-energy physical puzzle challenges as they help reclaim the Barbarian’s mustache from the Goblin King. The interactive experience will be open from July 15 through September 7, overlapping with San Diego Comic-Con on July 23-26. Clash for the Stache features puzzle-based challenges inspired by the game, themed food and merch, giveaways, and photo moments designed to bring the world of Clash of Clans to life. Tickets will be available for purchase through Fever beginning on July 1 at 10 a.m. PST. Tickets are priced between $7 and $15 based on the selected date and time. **Note: special hours for exhibition opening - Saturday, June 27, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This exhibition features quilted works by an artist who holds a high appreciation for Guatemala and Maya culture. The colors and textures of the landscape and the abundance of textiles that the artist observed when exploring this region are interwoven throughout her works. The Maya culture is rich with history and traditions that have persevered through time in spite of hardship and civil wars. They pass on their weaving techniques and incorporate their local symbolism into future generations. The artist, Kathleen McCabe, says, “Guatemala and the Maya culture have a special place in my heart. I have travelled to the highlands numerous times … The Maya people work hard and value family. They live simple lives in simple structures… With this exhibit, I have tried to capture snippets of the Maya colors and textures.
