The Escondido Downtown Business Association (EDBA) is proud to announce Gather on Grand – a new downtown Escondido tradition, inspired by the Escondido community, creativity and agricultural heritage. With a heavy focus on music this year, North County residents are invited to stroll Grand Avenue and discover handcrafted goods, listen and experience live music on multiple stages, plus partake in seasonal fall flavors, family activities and unique shopping. This year's festival will take place between Escondido Blvd. and Ivy Street in historic downtown Escondido. Live music stages will be located at Broadway and artists include: 10 a.m. – Virginia James 11 a.m. – Jonny Tarr 12 p.m. – Mohavisoul 1 p.m. – Calamity 2 p.m. – The Gravities 3 p.m. – Zavala Soul 4 p.m. – The Bastards Art in the Garden is a juried art show within Gather on Grand event, bringing many talented Southern California artists to Heritage Garden Park – on the northeast corner of Juniper Street and Grand Avenue – to show and sell their work. The Hallo-Wine Fall Festival returns for its 19th year! A festive afternoon of exceptional food, handcrafted beverages, and meaningful connections, all in support of San Diego's most vulnerable children and families. MADRE CUMBIA—a historic collaboration between Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, Fruko, and Carmelo Torres. More than an album, Madre Cumbia brings together the living roots of Colombian cumbia with the artists who have carried, transformed, and preserved its legacy across generations. From the ancestral sounds of the gaitas and drums to the accordion of the sabanas and the electric bass that helped redefine tropical music, this record celebrates the full arc of cumbia's evolution. La Diabla: Born from the San Diego–Tijuana borderlands, La Diabla delivers a gritty, rebellious take on northern cumbia. Blending Colombian, Mexican, and Chicano influences with the raw energy of garage and punk, the group transforms cumbia sonidera and norteña traditions into a powerful, dance-floor-filling sound. REZA is a San Diego brass-and-percussion project bringing cumbia into the streets. Fusing Afro-Indigenous percussion, tropical brass, Colombian rhythms such as cumbia and porro, and the explosive energy of a New Orleans street band, REZA creates a communal, high-energy celebration built for dancing. Join South African author Leon Lazarus for the launch of his new book, "Barking at Dogs," a collection of oh-so-South African stories highlighting the absurdities of life in apartheid South Africa. It is funny, thought-provoking, and will explain a great deal about the South Africans in your life. The free community event features a reading, a book signing, and samples of South African desserts, offering attendees a taste of San Diego's vibrant literary and cultural scene. Sunday, November 15, 2-5:30 p.m. Beginners welcome! Ages 14+years! Join Beading Instructor Sarah George in this hands-on, 3.5 hour workshop! In this class, you will have access to Craft Collective’s extensive bead assortment to build your piece. We will use a one-step looper tool to quickly and easily create uniform loops that allow us endless beading possibilities. The looper trims and loops wire in one step, allowing the resulting beads to be stacked and strung to yield impressive results. Skills used include using the one step looper, stringing on wire, connecting chain using crimp beads, and adding a clasp. Once you’ve mastered the technique you can easily create endless necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Some stringing experience is helpful, but not necessary. You are welcome to bring along your own focal bead, other beads, and/or tools if you’d like. However, please do not bring an existing (unrelated) beading project to this class. Ages 14+ years and up is recommended.
