  • Hulu is taking over San Diego Comic Con this year with an immersive experience in celebration of their Adult Animation and Anime library, Animayhem. Fans are invited to enter the second dimension and step into the mesmerizing worlds of their favorite series and characters including "Family Guy," "The Simpsons," "Bob’s Burgers," "Futurama," "Archer," "American Dad," "The Great North," and "Solar Opposites." Hulu is setting themselves apart from the SDCC crowd by using 2D drawing styles and optical illusions to create a 3D activation that feels comically flat and delightfully out-of-whack – just like the Hulu Animayhem shows fans know and love. They will be bringing together attendees on June 20 - 23 for this year’s largest offsite installation. Adding to the excitement, there will be various interactive photo moments including the iconic “Family Guy” couch, the “Futurama” 55ft replica of HQ, the Alaskan landscape of “The Great North,” The Belchers of “Bob’s Burgers,” and so much more. Immerse yourself into the most highly-anticipated experience you won’t want to miss this Comic-Con!

  • DMICS 2023 will conclude with a night of opera and a celebration of the human voice. One of the unique aspects of DMICS is our opera workshop program, in which composers are invited to work with a collection of some of Southern California's top vocal artists to develop and present new operatic works together. This season we will hear the continuation of Polina Nazaykinskaya's major opera-in-progress, "Tear Down This Wall," a comedic scene from Jordan Kuspa's "The Importance of Being Earnest," and several vocal works by composers with local ties to San Diego: Texu Kim, Michael Remson, and Joseph Sowa. This is a rare opportunity to hear new works in their infancy, as our composer/performer teams work to hone their creative vision together and create new and powerful operas destined for grand stages in the future. • Taiwan's vice president and candidate of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, Lai Ching-te, will be the island's next leader. Tensions with Beijing seem poised to rise.
  • Join us for a night of chamber music as we open the fourth season of the Del Mar International Composers Symposium! Hear music by acclaimed composers Texu Kim (composition faculty at SDSU), returning DMICS favorite Polina Nazaykinskaya, and DMICS founder Jordan Kuspa performed by a powerhouse trio of musicians: GRAMMY-winning violinist Domenic Salerni, innovative cellist Emily Hu, and "superb pianist" (Washington Post) Jessica Xylina Osborne. This unique program gives you the opportunity to hear from and meet each of our composers, as we explore why and how composers write the music they do. In addition, Domenic Salerni will present a workshop performance of his new piano trio--the first performance of this new work anywhere. It will be the perfect way to kick off our season, showing how DMICS brings composers and performers together as we strive to make the creative process tangible for all.
