The San Diego Unified School District announced Wednesday the selection of six area superintendents, as well as several key executive director positions.

ReWild Mission Bay, the Mission Bay Youth Field Association and Pacific Beach Tennis Club said they agreed with the city on the ecological benefits of the buffer zones, but wanted replacement facilities.

A wildfire that spread across brushy open terrain was 90% contained Wednesday in a hilly area of Barona, southeast of Ramona, charring about 12.2 acres, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

All evacuation warnings were lifted shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday, Cal Fire said.

The blaze erupted for unknown reasons shortly after 11:30 a.m. near Black Wood and Old Mine roads, several miles north of Interstate 8 in the Boulevard area, according to Cal Fire

Earlier this month, supervisors unanimously voted to oppose any further placements of sexually violent predators until local jurisdictions are able to fully participate in the placement process, including having full veto authority.
