An excessive heat warning has been issued Tuesday for San Diego County deserts with dangerously hot conditions and high temperatures expected through Saturday, the National Weather Service announced.

The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Steadfast offloaded more than 11,600 pounds of cocaine and 5,500 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $158 million in San Diego.

Family child care providers who operate their businesses out of their own rental units will now have greater protections and education, the San Diego City Council voted Monday.
