District 3 San Diego County Supervisor Race Heats Up

For the first time in 16 years, there is an open seat on the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.

District 3 Supervisor Pam Slater-Price, who has held that seat for nearly 20 years, is not running for re-election. The top three candidates vying for District 3 in the June Primary are Dave Roberts, Steve Danon and Carl Hilliard.

District 3 is located in northern San Diego county - it includes the communities of Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Encinitas, Escondido, Mira Mesa, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, Solana Beach and University City.

Steve Danon has been the chief of staff to Congressman Brian Bilbray and worked in both the public and private sector and has been endorsed by San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders, and former California Governor Pete Wilson.

Dave Roberts is currently the deputy mayor of Solana Beach and is senior manager for an international nonprofit. He's endorsed by Supervisor Pam Slater-Price and the San Diego City Firefighters.

Carl Hilliard is currently the mayor of Del Mar and a businessman. He's endorsed by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and retired San Diego County Sheriff Bill Kolender.
