Despite a recent poll that showed Military Times subscribers favor Mitt Romney over Barack Obama by a margin of 2-to-1, new documents show the president leads Romney in military donations by a notable margin.

The Center for Responsive Politics crunched the numbers from the Federal Election Commission, and found military donors contributed $536,414 to President Obama's campaign, compared to $287,435 in donations to Mitt Romney.

Ron Paul received $399,274 from military donors.

This might come as a surprise to some considering The Military Times recently polled 3,000 of its subscribers. Two-thirds favored Mitt Romney for president, with just 26 percent planning to vote for Obama.
