Craig Venter, Geneticist/Author, Life at the Speed of Light: From the Double Helix to the Dawn of Digital Life
A discussion about the frontiers of biological science usually separates people into two groups. Those who are fascinated by the possibilities of probing deeper into the mechanics of life. And those who fear what could happen if we go too far.
No matter which side of that divide you find yourself the work of J. Craig Venter should be of unique interest.
Dr. Venter is famous for sequencing the human genome. He also led a team of scientists to create the first cell with a synthetic genome.
Craig Venter's latest book is called Life at the Speed of Light: From the Double Helix to the Dawn of Digital Life.
To mark the release of his new book, Venter will be speaking at UC San Diego's Price Center East Ballroom October 28 at 7 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
