No. 5 SDSU Basketball Falls In Wyoming, 68-62

In what would have been a San Diego State school record for most consecutive mens basketball wins (21), the Aztecs fall short to a strong Wyoming Cowboys team by a final score of 68-62.

Fans stormed the court after the final buzzer, as Wyoming improved to 15-9, 6-5 Mountain West Conference. The last time the Cowboys beat a top five team was 16 years ago against No.5 Utah.

Dwayne Polee II led San Diego State with 15 points, followed by Xavier Thames with 13.

For the Cowboys Riley Grabau scored 17 points and Larry Nance Jr. had 14.

The Aztecs, now 21-2 on the season and ranked No. 5 in the nation, faced off against the Cowboys on Tuesday in Wyoming. The Mountain West conference rival came out fast, putting up 32 points in the first half to an Aztec 23.

The Aztecs rallied late in the second half, outscoring the Cowboys 39 to 36. However, it was not enough to hold off Wyoming as San Diego State suffered their first road loss.

The biggest hit for the Aztecs was field goal attempts, they shot 38 percent on the night compared to the Cowboys hitting 58 percent of their shots.

The Aztec's next game is Saturday, Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. at home.
