Two men on Friday were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 12 and nearly 14 years for taking part in the 2014 beating death of a 55-year-old homeless man in Santee.
Danny Swan III and Tyler Dare, both 20, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Stephen Hissom.
Swan was sentenced to 12 years behind bars, and Dare was given a term of 13 years and eight months.
Three others — Cassidy Rowin, Brian Kish and Sarah Baillie — also pleaded guilty in the case.
Rowin, 19, was sentenced to three years in prison. Kish, 20, and Baillie, 19, are scheduled to be sentenced July 25.
Prosecutors said Hissom and his friend, 49-year-old Edward Allen, were riding bikes along a path in the 9300 block of Mission Gorge Road under a state Route 52 overpass when they got into an argument with the defendants on Nov. 29, 2014.
Allen testified that Hissom first asked the defendants to "please move," then said, "Get the hell out of the way."
Allen said he was surrounded, then attacked, but couldn't see what happened to Hissom.
