A dedication ceremony is set for Friday morning in San Diego for a stem cell
research center. The Burnham Institute for Medical Research was recently selected by the National Institutes of Health as one of the nation's six Exploratory Stem Cell Research Centers in the country.

The Burnham Institute will receive $3-million over the next three years from the NIH to support research to advance understanding of the fundamental biology of human embryonic stem cells and for supporting the work and training of investigators in the basic methods of growing and using human stem cells.

Speakers at the dedication will talk about the center's recent progress in stem cell research.
