California and three other states are working together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  Public Utility Commissions from Washington, Oregon, New Mexico and California signed an agreement to develop and use renewable energy resources. The use of coal and fuel oil to generate electricity have been linked to greenhouse gas emissions. Scientists say the emissions are responsible for warmer temperatures, melting glaciers and extreme weather effects. California PUC President Michael Peevey says a regional effort will help speed the development of clean energy resources.
