Prices at the Pump Rise Again
San Diego gas prices are up again, rising at a time of year when fuel prices usually head in the other direction. KPBS reporter Erik Anderson has details.
The Utility Consumer’s Action Network says the average price of a gallon of gas is up eight cents in the past week. UCAN’s Charles Langley says motorists are paying an average of $2.58. He says problems at an Arco refinery are pinching supplies and pushing up prices on the spot market. Langley says consumers are feeling the pressure when gas stations pass on the pain.
Langley: “This is the highest gas price we’ve ever seen, short of Katrina, this time of year….ever. So we’re looking at very high gas prices and we’re looking at going into 2007 with extremely high gas prices.”
Langley says gas prices at the pump were holding steady at about $2.50 a gallon for the past few weeks. Erik Anderson KPBS News
