More Mexican federal police are streaming into Tijuana. The government has sent the reinforcements to help crackdown on crime. KPBS reporter Amy Isackson has the story.

The agents' arrival comes almost a year to the day after Mexican President Felipe Calderon announced Operation Tijuana.

It was part of an unprecedented nationwide crackdown on the drug violence and corruption that wracks Mexico.

The president ordered 3,000 federal agents to Tijuana. Though, observers say only about 400 came.

This time, Baja California law enforcement officials estimate between one and 2,000 federal agents will arrive.

Victor Clark directs Tijuana's Binational Human Rights Center and has studied crime in the city for more than a decade.

Clark says people in Tijuana have a lot of experience with these kinds of spectacular announcements and they don't give them a lot of credibility anymore.

Murders and kidnappings continue to plague the city.
