New Record For Average Gas Prices in San Diego

San Diego's average gasoline price reached another record today. The Utility Consumer's Action Network says it costs three dollars 86 cents for a gallon of regular. That's ten cents more than a week ago and 22 cents a gallon higher than the price just two weeks ago.

U-CAN’s Charles Langley says diesel prices also hit a record, four dollars 42 cents. He says the price of diesel has flip-flopped with the price of gas.

Langley : Now it’s way more expensive. Well over $1.20 more than it was last year. And it’s really harming businesses and consumers, this is really going to affect the local rate of inflation.

Langley says goods from clothing to food are shipped around the country on diesel powered trucks and that's why inflation could go up sharply. Economists say the higher fuel prices will be passed on to consumers.
