A group of Christian lawyers is challenging four San Diego Superior Court judges in a race critics say
threatens the impartiality of the courts.
The attorneys are running on the "Better Courts Now" ticket, backed by pastors, gun enthusiasts, and opponents of abortion and same-sex marriages.
Family attorney Craig Candelore faces Judge Lantz Lewis. Family law attorney Larry "Jake" Kincaid vies for Joel Wohlfeil's seat; and Bill Trask, a lawyer for a mortgage firm, runs against Judge Robert Longstreth.
Arbitrator Harold J. Coleman Jr. challenges Judge DeAnn Salcido. former federal prosecutor, a deputy district attorney and a lawyer are competing for a fifth seat that opened with the retirement of Judge Robert Coates.
