MCRD San Diego is reporting the death of a Marine recruit this morning. He died at the hospital after he became unresponsive on base following an initial strength test.
According to a news release from MCRD San Diego, Scripps Mercy Hospital pronounced the Marine recruit dead at 9:54 this morning.
Cause of death is still not clear. The Marine recruit's name will be released until the next of kin is notified.
According to MCRD San Diego spokesman Marc Ayalin, the IST consists of the 1.5 mile run, three pull-ups, and 44 abdominal crunches.
