The Notre Dame versus Naval Academy football rivalry is the longest continuous intersectional rivalry in college football. Saturday's matchup is the 92nd consecutive time the two teams have played. Fifty-seven of their games have taken place at "neutral" sites, but this is the first time they have played in San Diego.

The Naval Academy has beat Notre Dame 13 times in their series. This year, Notre Dame comes into the matchup undefeated while the Naval Academy has a 2-5 record.

In San Diego, fans from both sides say they were excited about the game.

"We've been watching Navy football for probably ten years, at least," one man said. "And even though I was in the Navy, I never really followed Navy football 'till our son went to the Naval Academy. No matter who they play, Air Force-Navy, Army-Navy, they're always big games."

The teams also announced that their 2020 game, which was scheduled to take place in New Jersey, has been relocated to Dublin, Ireland.
