Yelp and local restaurants served a special meal Wednesday at the San Diego Air and Space Museum in Balboa Park.
The restaurant and business review website expected to serve 500 federal government workers at the museum in Balboa Park. Local restaurants like Lucha Libre Taco Shop, Donut Bar, El Pollo Grill, Cali Comfort BBQ all to served food at the lunch, among several others.
"I was super sad the last few days. It’s really depressing — but stuff like this, seeing how San Diego comes together as a community — it’s really uplifting," said Amanda Gossard, a park ranger at Cabrillo National Monument.

Yelp organized the event to support federal employees who are furloughed or working without pay amid the shutdown.
"We're now in the midst of the longest government shutdown in American history," a statement on its website said. "There's no sign of this thing ending anytime soon, so in the wake of all the mess, we've decided to gather some extremely generous local businesses together with hopes that a free meal might help 500 of you that are in need at the moment."
