Sesame Street Water Park To Open In Chula Vista
Construction is underway on a new theme park based on an award-winning TV show.
It will be located at the former site of Aquatica Water Park in Chula Vista.
The park will be completely transformed into a Sesame Street-themed water park that includes 11 water attractions, seven themed dry rides, a theater show and a parade with popular characters from the show.
It’s the first of its kind on the West Coast, said John Dunlap, SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment president.
California State Assemblymember Akilah Weber was present at the unveiling of the construction site Wednesday morning. She said Sesame Street was a staple in her childhood as it was for millions of kids.
“Sesame Street was one of two shows that my parents allowed me to watch,” she said.
Weber can’t wait to bring her own kids when the park opens.
“This is really going to be a place where families can come whether you have kids or teenagers,” she said.
She said the park, which is scheduled to open in March, is expected to bring hundreds of jobs.
