Bad Boy Records founder Sean "Diddy" Combs has been accused of sexual misconduct by five different people since November 2023.

In recent months, Sean "Diddy" Combs, the hip-hop billionaire who played a major role in commercializing rap, has become the subject of several civil suits accusing him of sexual misconduct, including rape and assault.

For many years, Combs represented affluence as he turned his stake in the Bad Boy Entertainment record label he founded into an empire that extended to fashion, media, liquor and beyond. "Whatever I want, I have to I get," he yelled in a clip from his 2017 documentary, Can't Stop, Won't Stop, after smashing things on his desk. What was initially seen as a fodder for the grindset from the ultimate hustler mogul now feels more like evidence of an aggressive, domineering disposition, one in line with the vicious person depicted in the filings.

A timeline of these events, dating back 30 years, juxtaposed with milestones from Combs' career, displays not only a chilling history of alleged violent behavior but the way power and celebrity have shielded him.

According to the suit, the then-teenage victim wanted to attend the 2000 Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, but when she didn't have a ticket to the show, she asked limousine drivers who were waiting outside how she could get into the awards.  One of the drivers she spoke to claimed to work for Combs and told her that Combs liked younger girls and said she "fit what Diddy was looking for."

The driver invited her to Combs' afterparty. The driver later drove her to a mansion. Doe claims when she arrived, two men made her "sign a non-disclosure agreement, informing her that she could not discuss what happened at the party." She signed the agreement, entered the party and after having one drink, began to feel woozy. When Doe tried to lie down in a bedroom, Combs and two other unnamed celebrities followed her into the room.  Thats when the three people undressed her and she was "held down by Celebrity A who vaginally raped her while Combs and Celebrity B, a female, watched." In both the suit and a televised press conference held by her lawyer, Gloria Allred, Graves alleges that she was 25 years old at the time of the assault and dating a record producer who was then working for Bad Boy. Graves says that after Combs invited her to the studio he laced her drink with drugs and she woke up "bound and restrained" after falling unconscious. Combs and Sherman then allegedly took turns violently raping her while "slamming her head into a pool table" repeatedly.

Graves also claims that she learned for the first time in November 2023 that Combs and Sherman had video-recorded themselves raping her and had shown the video to multiple men in order to humiliate her and the producer she was dating at the time. Graves also believes the recording of her assault was distributed as pornography through Joseph Sherman's pornography company.

2001

According to a November 2024 lawsuit, Combs, with the aide of a casting director and assistant, drugged and raped a John Doe plaintiff in October 2001.

The plaintiff, who resides in Texas and at the time of the attack was working as an actor, traveled to New York City to audition for the role of a police officer in an unnamed music video. After speaking with a casting director, the plaintiff showed up to a hotel on the south side of Central Park for the audition where he met the woman casting director and a man who claimed he was Comb's bodyguard and assistant. After answering a few questions about the role, Doe then met with Combs who asked him questions about his personal life. Combs asked the actor to take off his shirt, which he did in compliance with the audition. Combs then remarked to his assistant, "He'll do."

The casting director then offered Doe an alcoholic drink, which he declined. She instead offered him a Diet Coke in a glass, which he drank, but noted that it tasted strange. Shortly after he drank the soda, the plaintiff began to feel nauseous and passed out. When he regained consciousness, Doe says he was face down, slung over an ottoman in the hotel room with his pants pulled down to his ankles and his shirt pulled over his head. According to the suit, that's when the plaintiff "felt a great deal of pain and realized, as he looked back, that he was being anally sodomized by Combs." The plaintiff says he tried to fight him off but that Combs' bodyguard was holding him down by the arms.

Doe recalls that while he was being sodomized, he heard people in the other room, including the casting director, laughing and talking. Once Combs was done, the plaintiff claims he tried to get up and run away but could not hold his own weight so he passed out again. When he regained consciousness the second time, he was being held in a kneeling position by a Caucasian man who was sitting on the couch in front of him and orally sodomizing him while verbally abusing him. Doe claims he tasted metal and believes some sort of device was holding his mouth open, because he tried to bite down but could not. The plaintiff later discovered he had a broken molar, requiring repair and a partial denture. When the man ejaculated in his mouth, the plaintiff lost consciousness again.

When he regained consciousness a third time, he was completely naked and saw other people around him engaging in sex acts. The plaintiff grabbed his clothing and ran out of the hotel suite and recalled someone shouting, "Hope you had fun," as he fled. In the weeks that followed, the plaintiff claims he remained in intense pain and "defecated a used condom and realized he was bleeding rectally."

March 26, 2001

In a lawsuit, local TV host Roger Mills sues Combs, accusing him of assault, false imprisonment, destruction of property, intentional infliction of emotional distress and a civil conspiracy, in an exchange where Combs' entourage roughed him up and destroyed his camera. "As we have yet to be served with this complaint, we are unable to comment on specific allegations," a Combs spokesperson said in a statement. "However, any claim that Mr. Combs participated in any wrongdoing is totally false. Furthermore, facilitating the press with this baseless complaint is a blatant attempt to exploit Mr. Combs' celebrity for media attention." A jury finds in favor of Combs in 2004.

Once in the SUV, the plaintiff was handed a drink which she drank. Shortly after, she began to feel dizzy and disoriented. Combs then ordered Doe to perform oral sex on one of his bodyguards; that bodyguard ordered the woman to take off her shirt. Doe claims that, in close quarters with so many unknown men and in fear for her life, she did what they ordered her to do. Combs forced the plaintiff and her friends to give oral sex to many members of his security team while he verbally degraded them and sprayed them with champagne. Combs then ordered the plaintiff to perform oral sex on him.

The model and her friend decided to attend, dialing the number on the flyer, and they were picked up by a driver. When she arrived at the party, Doe says she was required to hand over her purse and cell phone in order to enter. She and her friend complied.

Once inside the party, the plaintiff claims she recognized many celebrities and took a drink offered to her on a tray. Shortly after, she felt sick and found a chair, where she fell unconscious. When she woke up later that night, she was missing her underwear and had intense pain in her vaginal and anal areas. The plaintiff began to cry and that's when Combs and two of his bodyguards approached her and threatened her, telling her that he would "ruin" her career. The plaintiff realized that Combs had sexually assaulted her. After she was convinced not to file a report with the police, Combs' security team then put her in a car and dropped her off at the Hedges Inn in East Hampton. She claims Combs instructed her and the other models to drink from specific bottles that he "laced with ecstasy" and though she was not required to have sex with anyone at the first party she attended, she was "groomed into sex trafficking over time" by Combs and Thomas. They forced her to engage in vaginal intercourse with guests, claiming that her past in adult entertainment was a reason to downplay her being sex trafficked. Though guests at the notorious parties were required to wear all white, English says on many occasions she was given a little black dress to wear to denote that she was a sex worker.

In addition to Combs and Bad Boy Enterprises employees, English lists VIBE Magazine and Penske Media Corporation in the suit, saying editors were aware of the prostitution happening at the parties and published her picture in the magazine without her consent. She also lists Jacob Arabov, known in hip-hop circles as "Jacob The Jeweler," as a co-defendant, asserting he was a frequent sex partner of hers who knew that she was being trafficked by Combs and BBE.

The John Doe plaintiff  was an aspiring artist at the time  and says was invited to penthouse hotel room party in New York City being thrown by Combs. Once he entered the party, Combs offered the boy a drink, which he accepted. Sometime later, Doe felt dizzy and went to find a bathroom in the suite. He instead entered a room where he witnessed a number of people, including Combs and other celebrities, having group sex. John Doe tried to leave but Combs told him to stay, forcing him to lie down on the bed against his will. Combs then "manipulated Doe's genitials for an extended period of time, trying to get him aroused." The plaintiff claims he never got aroused and instead was severely frightened. When he couldn't get aroused, Combs allowed Doe to leave the room and turned back to the group sex taking place on the bed. Doe promptly called a friend to come pick him up from the party and left soon after.

Doe, who was 39 years old at the time of the altercation, was invited to the large, glamorous home and began to socialize with other guests; after having one drink, began to feel dizzy and unable to control his body. The plaintiff went into one of the bedrooms to lie down and fell unconscious. He claims he woke up "horrified to find Combs on top of him, sodomizing him." The suit alleges that the plaintiff fought Combs off of him and fled to a bathroom where he discovered his anus was bleeding. John Doe then fled the house party and did not return.

According to a November 2024 lawsuit, Combs drugged and raped a partygoer in his Miami home. The suit claims that John Doe plaintiff met and mingled with some of Combs' associates at a Miami nightclub in 2022. Doe was then invited back to an after-hours party being held at Combs' Miami residence. After being escorted in an SUV to the home, the plaintiff entered the party of about 40 to 50 guests, some of whom were celebrities. As the man mingled with the guests, he was introduced to Combs, who handed Doe a drink and asked if he wanted a tour of the home. The plaintiff said yes and began to follow Combs around.

The suit alleges that Combs led the plaintiff to a bedroom that smelled of marijuana and was filled with people. As Combs entered the room, he "demanded the women perform sexual dances and acts on the other three men." The plaintiff began to feel weak and dizzy, realizing he had been drugged. Doe claims that he fell unconscious and when he woke, his clothes were missing and he was in great pain. As he turned around to check the pain coming from his anus, "he saw Combs naked, fully erect, trying to insert his penis into the plaintiff's anus." The man lost consciousness again.

The plaintiff woke up in the same bedroom the next morning and was immediately told by security to get dressed and prepare to leave the residence. Doe was dropped off at the same nightclub from the night before.

According to an October 2024 lawsuit, Combs and an unnamed celebrity repeatedly sexually assaulted a John Doe victim at an awards show afterparty.

The unnamed victim, who was working as a personal trainer at the time, was invited by a client to Combs' afterparty in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles.

When the plaintiff arrived at the residence, he was instructed by Combs' business associates to sign a non-disclosure agreement and take several sips of a mixed drink to earn entry into the party. He did so and as he entered the party, began feeling disoriented.

As he was feeling dizzy, Combs "approached Plaintiff, removed his pants, and began performing non-consensual oral sex onto him." After Combs' stopped, he forced the plaintiff to perform non-consensual oral sex onto Celebrity A. Feeling severely impaired and trapped in his own body, the plaintiff obliged. After that, the filing alleges the plaintiff fell in and out of consciousness and  was passed around the house as a "party favor for their sexual enjoyment."

When he regained consciousness, the plaintiff says he was outside of his apartment building missing his phone and his shirt and had no knowledge of how he got home.

The plaintiff, who was a 29-year-old independent music artist at the time, was invited with other friends to a party Combs was throwing in New York City where there were many other celebrities in attendance and widespread drug use. Doe claims to never have taken drugs and only drank a single glass of wine at the party before engaging in conversation with Combs. When the plaintiff said she was an independent artist, Combs told her he wanted to work with her, "stating his desire to help elevate her career by featuring her on a track" and invited her to his office to discuss the topic further.  After she entered his office, the plaintiff alleges she fell unconscious.

When she woke up the next morning in the same office,  the plaintiff  "discovered blood on her legs from her vaginal area, and bruising on her lips. She also found deep imprints on her arms and wrists, suggesting she had been tied with ropes."

Ventura accuses Diddy of years of sexual misconduct, harassment, sex trafficking and rape. Ventura's allegations lasted for the entirety of their working and personal relationship.

Ventura files the civil suit in New York Superior Court under the state's Adult Survivors Act, a New York law permitting victims of sexual abuse a one-year window to file civil action regardless of the statute of limitations of the crimes themselves. (Tiffany Red, a songwriter and one of Cassie's collaborators, later publicly corroborates her claims.)

Combs, via his attorney, Benjamin Brafman, told The New York Times, "Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations. For the past six months, Mr. Combs has been subjected to Ms. Ventura's persistent demand of $30 million, under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, which was unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail.

Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ms. Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combs's reputation and seeking a payday."

One day after the public filing of her suit, Ventura and Combs settle outside of court for an undisclosed amount.

In a statement, Ventura says, "I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control" while Combs' statement read "I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love."

Video surveillance of Combs assaulting Ventura is released. The video footage, published by CNN and dated March 2016, appears to show Combs chasing Ventura down the hallway of the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles while wearing only a towel and socks and repeatedly hitting and kicking her while she lies on the floor. Combs is also seen attempting to drag Ventura by the shirt down the hallway and throwing objects at her.

This video seems to corroborate one of the claims of abuse Ventura made in her November 2023 lawsuit against Combs, an attack she described that resulted in her getting a black eye.

May 19, 2024

In a sudden and surprising turn, Combs posts a video on his Instagram account in response to the surveillance video of Ventura's assault, admitting he is the man attacking her in the video and saying he is "truly sorry."

"My behavior on that video is inexcusable," he says to the camera. "I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. ... I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now."

Combs does not name Ventura (or any other accuser or plaintiff in the current slew of pending lawsuits) and states that he is not asking for forgiveness. He claims to have gone to therapy, rehab and asked "God for his mercy and grace."

Ventura's lawyers release a statement in response to Combs' video the same day, saying, "Combs' most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt. When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday. That he was only compelled to 'apologize' once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words."

Attorney Marc Agnifilo appeals the ruling, arguing that Combs is no risk to the public; He has surrendered his passport, agreed to be placed under house arrest, to post a $50 million dollar bond and would also agree to weekly drug tests.

Prosecutors, on the other hand, claimed Combs is not only a flight risk but an untrustworthy danger to the public, especially witnesses and victims related to this case. Prosecutors argued that Combs' release would pose a potential threat to witnesses.

December 8, 2024

In the refiling of an October 2024 lawsuit that alleged Combs raped a 13-year-old girl at a New York City-area after-party in September 2000, hip-hop mogul Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter is accused of participating in the rape. The amended lawsuit lists Carter as a co-defendant and details that, "Combs and Carter were not simply occasional collaborators in the music industry. The two men developed a close friendship that has been well-documented from the late 1990s to the present."

The Jane Doe plaintiff asserts Carter was the previously mentioned "Celebrity A" who undressed her, held her down and vaginally raped her while Combs and a female "Celebrity B" stood in the room and watched. The plaintiff says that, after Carter raped her, Combs approached to rape her a second time. After she was raped twice she escaped and fled the mansion where the afterparty was being held.

Carter issued a statement in rapid response to this new allegation, taking aim at the plaintiff's lawyer, Tony Buzbee, calling him "deplorable" and an "ambulance chaser in a cheap suit." As Carter released this statement in response to the allegations, it was also relieved that the Brooklyn rapper and executive has been in the process of suing Buzbee for extortion.

"These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!" Carter's statement, released through Roc Nation, reads. "Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case."
