Well since Santa told me that I couldn't have Chow Yun Fat or Clive Owen gift wrapped under my tree, here are a few geeky "Star Wars" items that I wish I had gotten for Christmas.
Forget things like diamonds and expensive jewelry -- what's the point? There's no play value in a diamond ring. But toys and collectibles, well that's a whole other matter. I have an insatiable appetite for giant Godzillas, "Nightmare Before Christmas" dolls, old movie posters, and of course "Star Wars" collectibles. What can I say, I'm just a geek and I still love getting toys.
This year my brother got an amazing gift -- a Taun Taun sleeping bag. You remember the Taun Taun, right? That smelly creature Han cuts open in "The Empire Strikes Back" so that he can stuff Luke in to keep him warm on the ice planet Hoth. Well the sleeping bag has a Taun Taun head for a pillow, a light saber zipper pull, and intestines drawn in the inside of the sleeping bag. I tried to order this for a "Star Wars" geek friend but was sad to discover that they are already back ordered and I couldn't expect getting one till February 2010. So my friend will have to wait and so will I.
But once you get the Taun Taun sleeping bag you'll need the Millennium Falcon Bed, which one ups the Landspeeder bed Tom Lennon had in "17 Again."
Then when you wake up in your Millennium Falcon bed, you might want to have breakfast in bed and use a pair of light saber chopsticks in your choice of Jedi colors.
And if it's cold the morning after Christmas you might want to keep warm in a Clone Trooper of Boba Fett Hoodie.
Since "Star Wars" items tend to sell out and get severely back ordered, you might want to consider stocking up now for next Christmas if you have any "Star Wars" geeks in your circle of friends.
So may the Force be with you now and on into the new year.
