It seems fitting that following last weekend’s 6th Annual Ocean Beach Music & Art Festival, which featured top jazz artists from around the country, now comes the San Diego Blues Festival featuring ten standout acts on two stages. The day long festival takes place this Saturday, September 17 at Embarcadero Marina Park North and is sure to attract blues lovers and local music aficionados alike.
The festival is presented by AimLoan.com and will benefit the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank. Originally launched in 1998, the annual festival was held for six years until financial issues closed it down. This year’s revival could give the festival new staying power. The featured line-up ranges from local bottleneck-guitarist Robin Henkel to Buddy Guy-approved Café R&B to Grammy Award winner and former Muddy Waters harmonica player James “Superharp” Cotton. Why not check out this exciting festival of Blues on the bay, while giving back to the community? Hopefully this year’s revival of the blues festival will make it an annual mainstay in San Diego.
