In this episode, Huell Howser tours the Vincent Price Art Museum, which opened in May 2011 at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park. The museum contains 9,000 items, many of which were donated by the late actor. Victoria Price leads the tour of her father's vast collection of fine art and shows why this gallery is one of Los Angeles's best kept secrets. We also look back at Huell's original 1989 'Videolog' interview with Vincent Price himself.
“Vincent Price considered the arts as a fundamental part of education,” VPAM Museum Director, Karen Rapp explains, “We exist for our students, for our faculty, and as a resource for the community.” The new museum houses seven art galleries which can accommodate temporary rotating exhibitions, student shows, permanent collection shows, and artist and community projects; there is also a specially designed vault for the permanent collection named after long-time Museum Director, Thomas Silliman; and a multimedia lecture hall for art history classes.
The Vincent Price Art Museum is on Facebook.
