The third season of MISS FISHER’S MURDER MYSTERIES builds on the meticulously constructed world of seasons one and two as it follows the independent, glamorous and unflappable leading lady detective Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis). This lush take on the traditional crime drama explores the fascinating and varied sub cultures of 1920s ‘between-the-wars’ Melbourne.

In this new season, viewers will delve into Phryne's closet for a surprise or two - both of the late 1920s couturier variety (upholding her reputation for style and elegance) but, also of the family skeleton variety! This time around, her father arriving unexpectedly—in trouble and in need of cash—unravels long buried secrets, grows our onscreen ensemble and challenges Phryne's usual composure. While Miss Fisher is as daring and playful as ever—mounting gun fights with the mafia, climbing tall buildings to rescue the helpless, performing death defying feats of escapology and battling villains down back alleys—the overarching story attached to her father sheds fascinating new light on our lead.

Detective Inspector Jack Robinson (Nathan Page) is intrigued and amused, in turns, as Henry Fisher, Baron of Richmond Upon Thames, gets under his daughter's skin like no-one else can. And there is a bonus for Jack - as Phryne learns more about her father and a subtle shift of the heart feeds into her attitude to love and commitment. With the two primed for romance, the final episode feels like it’s the time to deliver on a promise! From the shadowy lanes of the city to the halls of academia, from high-class brothels to haute couture, she defends the innocent and juggles admirers with her usual panache, all the while keeping up her delicious dance around Detective Inspector Jack Robinson. Returning cast members include Ashleigh Cummings (as Dot Williams), Hugo Johnstone-Burt (as Constable Hugh Collins) and Miriam Margolyes (as Aunt Prudence).
