Border Patrol Discovers $1.4M Of Narcotics In Hollow Metal Door

U.S. Border Patrol agents found $1.4 million in drugs hidden in a red Ford pickup Thursday at the agency's San Clemente checkpoint.

The truck's driver, a 34-year-old U.S. citizen, was referred to a secondary inspection area where his pickup was examined by a drug-sniffing canine. The dog triggered a positive alert, which led agents to search the truck.

A total of 63 bundles containing cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin were found. The drugs were stuffed inside a hollow metal door, which was lying in the bed of the truck. The packages, all of which contained some form of narcotics, weighed about 117 pounds.

The case has been turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for further review.
