There’s a slight chance San Diego’s 41-day dry streak will come to an end this weekend as a low pressure system makes its way across California.
The trough could bring light rainfall to the region from Thursday night through Sunday, along with cool temperatures and gusty winds in the mountains and deserts.
There’s a 30 percent chance rainfall amounts could reach a quarter inch in the valleys and one tenth of an inch along the coast, according to the National Weather Service.
Dry conditions have gripped San Diego County since Dec. 19 due to an extreme high pressure system that has pushed any potential winter storms away. The region’s precipitation has fallen nearly three inches below average during what is typically the wettest time of year.
A third year of dry conditions across the state prompted Gov. Jerry Brown to declare a statewide drought emergency earlier this month.
