On this last weekend of summer we will certainly feel the heat and we are also say goodbye to a number of San Diego's favorite summer events. Some will race to the finish and some will go out with a bang. Either way Nina is here to tell us about them. Welcome Nina.Thank you. Hello.Let's begin with the one that goes out with the been.-- Bangor.It is barely -- very spectacular. It is really popular because it is known for the booming cannons and the fireworks. It brings out lots of families on Friday and Saturday. It has the Navy band Southwest. It is really beloved in San Diego.As the title implies it is a night of music by chalk Oski. Can you tell us what is on the program?There will be pieces of the not Kratzer although his final completed symphony and also some music fellow -- Nutcracker also his final completed symphony and also some music from fellow -- .This is his overture in 1812.[ MUSIC ] [ MUSIC ]I can see those fireworks now.I understand have good news for people who can't make the concert or afford a ticket.Yes. KPBS will record the show on Friday and air it on Saturday night at 9:00.They close their season with 1812 spectacular Friday through Sunday. Something else that is coming to a close this weekend is Balboa Park After Dark. This is a relatively new event. Will you tell us more about it Nina?Yes. This is where you go on Friday afternoons to Balboa Park and the museums are open until 8:00. You see food trucks gathered around. There is a festive mood the entire afternoon. It starts Memorial day and it ends tonight, Labor Day weekend.I understand there are discounts and specials when you go.Yes. You can pay $5 to go to the San Diego Museum of Art for those 2 hours. There's also a tour of California tower.Have you been to Balboa Park After Dark? What is it like?I go to a lot of theater so I end up there on Friday night. It is always just a different vibe. There are a lot of options were you can get dinner before show, pop into a museum. It is great. I really enjoy Balboa Park After Dark.Final Balboa Park After Dark happens today from 5-8.Del Mar summer is racing season wraps up but why is this on your ours calendar?The racing also has a really popular summer concert series. It brings out a lot of people. There will be 2 of them to close out the weekend. Tonight you can see the revivalist which is a soulful rock band from New Orleans. On Sunday is Steve a Okie who is a dance DJ -- Aoki who is a dance DJ.Have brought us a clip. This is boneless.[ MUSIC ] [ MUSIC ]DJ Steve Aoki. You will play at the Delmar racetrack this Sunday. Remind us how these work.These are free with race admission. They happen after the last race which is predicted at about 7:00. If you show up after 7 you have to pay $20. The concerts are for ages 18 and over.Del Mar concert series happens tonight and Sunday at the Delmar racetrack.The end of summer also means the outdoor movies are winding down. There are quite a few options out there. Tell us about some of your personal favorites Nina.I really love summer movies in the park. These are free family movies and they happen are rec centers and parks all throughout the county. They traditionally and around now, but they are extending through October with Halloween options. They have a website. You will find 2 summer hits, classics offer free. I recommend that one. If you want to get fancy go to Coronado. They have the hotel Dells moving -- movie on the beach. It is free but you can reserve a beach chair for $15. If you want to live it up for the end of summer you can pay $250 and you get seating, private bonfire and s'mores for 4 people. That one is back to the future is the last one on September 15. Finally, street food cinema is a hip outdoor movie. You have a concert, food trucks a short film and their last wonder dirty dancing and 500 days of summer. We have pretty good weather in San Diego year round for outdoor movies. Are there any that are going to extend into the fall and winter?Cinema under the stars is a favorite. They place classic movies. They are going through the end of October. Bayside Summer Nights
Music
The San Diego Symphony's Bayside Summer Nights closes its season with the popular 1812 Tchaikovsky Spectacular. This concert features some of Tchaikovsky's best-known works, including pieces from "The Nutcracker" and his Overture 1812 complete with booming cannons and fireworks.
Can't make it to the show? This year you'll be able to watch from home. KPBS will record Friday's performance and air it at 9 p.m. Saturday.

Del Mar Summer Concert Series

The Del Mar racing season comes to an end this weekend, which means it's your last chance to catch a popular post-race concert.
There will be two options: Friday welcomes The Revivalists, a rock band from New Orleans, and Sunday brings popular DJ Steve Aoki. Shows are free with admission and begin after the last race, which is about 7 p.m.

Balboa Park After Dark
Museums, Food
Balboa Park After Dark has its final gathering tonight.
At this weekly event, museums are open until 8 p.m., there’s entertainment throughout the plaza and you can grab a bite to eat at one of the many food trucks.
There are also museum discounts and special sunset tours of the Museum of Man’s California Tower.

Time’s running out on outdoor summer movie season.
There are so many options to watch movies outdoors, whether it’s in a park, a beach or even a parking lot.
Some local favorites include the free and family-friendly Summer Movies in the Park, the picturesque Hotel Del Movies on the Beach and the hip Street Food Cinema. You can find a list of outdoor movie options on the KPBS/Arts calendar.
