Silver hair is having a moment.
While going grey is one of the most visible signs of the aging process, now more than ever women are being encouraged to ditch the dye and embrace their silver locks.
But it’s not just a trend, stylist Lorraine Massey said, letting one’s true hue shine through can be empowering.

“We have been conditioned to believe that silver strands mean that you’re old. But your hair is not the problem. And your hair is not what ages you. The first issue is mind over (gray) matter. I truly believe that old is just a word and that a great attitude is ageless,” Massey wrote in her new book, “Silver Hair: A Handbook.”
Michele Parente, a lifestyle reporter for The San Diego Union-Tribune can relate. She recently wrote about how going grey made her feel younger.
Massey, an advocate for natural hair who also wrote, “Curly Girl: The Handbook,” will be in San Diego Monday to talk about her new book.
She joins Parente and KPBS’ Alison St John, who also rocks silver locks, on Midday Edition Monday to discuss their silver hair journey.
