The criticism comes after the City Council declined to slash police funding despite hours of public testimony, mostly from people urging council members to slash
San Diego City Councilmember Monica Montgomery held a virtual "healing" town hall last week to respond to criticism from the community.

The calls to slash the police department's budget came amid widespread protests against police brutality and racism.
