The ongoing cybersecurity hack of the State Department, the Pentagon, the Treasury Department, the Department of Homeland Security and other U.S. agencies that has been blamed on Russia is now being described as a grave risk with no evidence the situation is under control.
Each day we learn more about the extent of the damage and what institutions have been breached. But what are the potential real world consequences of this hack? How could we all be impacted? Jacob Doiron, a homeland security expert and SDSU lecturer in the department of Management Information Systems at the Fowler College of Business warns the consequence of this hack could range from system failures to data loss.

"It, in a nutshell, could give hackers complete control of a network and that's the concerning thing because once you have that access there's virtually no limit to what you can do," Doiron said.
He joined KPBS Midday Edition on Wednesday to talk about the implications of the hack.
