Open Letter From City Council Member Stirs Controversy Around Lincoln High School

A letter written by a San Diego City Council member addressed to San Diego Unified leadership has raised concerns over a number of issues Lincoln High School.

Concern is mounting over a host of issues at San Diego Unified’s Lincoln High School, after San Diego city Council member, Monica Montgomery Steppe submitted a letter highlighting long-standing concerns with oversight of the school.

Montgomery Steppe said high administrative turnover, allegations of misspent funds and sexual assault at the school constitute a failure in the district's leadership of Lincoln High School.

The San Diego Union-Tribune's education reporter Kristen Taketa joined Midday Edition on Monday to talk more about the story.
