"Doonesbury" creator Garry Trudeau has become a folk hero of sorts among bloggers, military advocates, active-duty soldiers and veterans for his tireless work and compassion for wounded warriors. Not exactly what one might have expected from a cynical, liberal cartoonist who once described himself as a "hippie college student" who still opposes war. But his support for troops and veterans is the real deal.
