Congratulations are in order for 17-year-old Taylor Dahl-Sims of Oceanside, California. Operation Homefront named her as a recipient of one of five Military Child of the Year awards. For the first time Operation Homefront named a winner for each branch of the military, and Taylor nabbed the top honor for the Marines. As part of the award, Taylor gets $5000 and will fly out to Washington D.C. with her family for a special ceremony April 7th.

Taylor also started a nonprofit group with her mother, called North Star Group, which hosts baby showers for pregnant military wives.
