Execution could be the ultimate punishment for USS Cole bombing suspect Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri. CNN reports military prosecutors are seeking a Guantanamo Bay trial and the death penalty for the alleged bomber.
According to CNN, al-Nashiri was a member of al-Qaeda before he became the mastermind behind the 2000 Cole attack, which killed 17 sailors and injured 40 other servicemembers.
In addition, the Department of Defense alleges:
al-Nashiri is currently being held at Guantanamo Bay, where he's been detained since his capture in 2002.
