The Missouri Department of Public Safety announced today that the final death toll in the Joplin tornado will stand at 134, as everyone who was reported missing after the tornado hit is now accounted for. Reuters reports the coroner is releasing the bodies of those who died back to their families.
The Missouri National Guard has been on the ground and helping the people of Joplin since the hours following the tornado outbreak. The Missouri National Guard is now teaming up with FEMA and the Army National Guard to help clean up the massive amounts of debris left behind from the numerous homes and other structures destroyed by the tornado.
