USS Carl Vinson Crew Back on U.S. Soil

The San Diego-based USS Carl Vinson arrived at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii today, its first stop at an American port in six months, according to the Associated Press. The USS Vinson grabbed international headlines last month when news came to light that Osama bin Laden's burial-at-sea took place from the deck of the aircraft carrier. As the AP reminds us:

More than 100 family members and friends of the Vinson crew were at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu to greet their loved ones. The Vinson is making the stop in Hawaii en route to its homeport in San Diego, although officials haven't announced a return date. Its deployment began November 30, 2010.
