"Weather" or Not the Space Shuttle Will Launch Still Up in the Air

Air Force Civilian Meteorologist Kathy Winters is one of the experts charged with figuring out whether the final launch of the space shuttle program will happen Friday - or not. According to Armed with Science, her official title is Space Shuttle Launch Official Coordinator, and she works at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station as part of the 45th Weather Squadron.

Right now, Winters tells Armed with Science there's a 60 percent chance the Space Shuttle Atlantis will launch on Friday:

The launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis, whenever it occurs, will be the 135th shuttle mission for NASA - and its final one.
