American servicemembers may soon be able to move through airport screening more quickly, if a new Transportation Security Administration (TSA) initiative gets the go-ahead. The TSA is conducting screening tests of the new plan starting today at Monterey Regional Airport in California.
TSA head John Pistole tells CNN the agency’s tests will hopefully determine "if its technology is compatible with the Common Access Cards that are carried by military personnel. The tests will not result in a faster check-in process immediately, but officials hope they will eventually lead to streamlined screening procedures for the military."
Frequent fliers with Delta Airlines and American Airlines can already participate in a similar program when they fly out of certain airports.
