Super Bowl Munchies Headed to Afghanistan

What's a Super Bowl party without delicious munchies to fortify you throughout the big game? That's the attitude taken by the Defense Logistics Agency, who made sure to send plenty of food to the servicemembers who'll be watching the New England Patriots take on the New York Giants from Afghanistan.

The Defense Logistics Agency is a combat support agency of the Department of Defense. The DLA has sent over "thousands of pounds" of traditional Super Bowl finger food, including:

  • mozzarella cheese sticks
  • jalapeno poppers
  • chicken wings
  • pork and beef meatballs
  • chili
  • pizza
  • french fries
  • onion rings

There will also be plenty of non-alcoholic beer with which to wash everything down. The DLA Support Team started planning out Super Bowl food preps back in June. DLA Troop Support commander Navy Rear Adm. David F. Baucom explains:
