A 24-year-old soldier from Oceanside has died while serving United States Mission Iraq in Bahrain, according to the Department of Defense. U.S. Army Private Cesar Cortez died February 11th, with the DoD not releasing the cause of death.
Cortez was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Fort Bliss, Texas.
Cortez's Facebook page doesn't provide much information about him - only that he was a 2005 graduate of Oceanside High School.
