Thanksgiving is still a week away, but Camp Pendleton is showing off a bit of Christmas spirit early this year. The base is hosting its "2013 Tree Lighting Celebration" on Saturday evening.
The event is free, but you must be a DoD card holder to attend.
According to a Camp Pendleton news release, the celebration will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Pacific Views Main Exchange:
The 20-foot tree, decorated with over 250 ornaments and decorations, will be brightly lit by more than 5,000 lights in a ceremony at 7 p.m.
Santa Claus will take a break from his North Pole workshop to stop by the celebration. Families can enjoy live music, free food and drink, and trackless train rides.
