After four deployments to Iraq, Congress should be a piece of cake, right? That's what former Marine Corps Capt. Seth Moulton is hoping. The Massachusetts native wants to represent his state's 6th congressional district in what would be his first foray into politics.

Moulton, 35, told the Military Times he was inspired to run for office while serving overseas:

“When I was in Iraq, after a tough day in the shop, a corporal in my platoon said to me that I should run for Congress so this mess doesn’t happen again.

"If no one stands up and runs, then our politics won’t get any better.”
After graduating from Harvard University, Moulton joined the Marines in 2001. He served as an infantry platoon commander with 4th Battalion, 1st Marines out of Camp Pendleton.

Moulton is running against Republican Richard Tisei in the general election. Moulton beat Democratic incumbent John Tierney in the primary, according to BallotPedia.org.

Moulton earned a Bronze Star while serving in the Marine Corps, a fact he apparently kept secret until this week, as NBC News reports:
