The San Diego Military Advisory Council Wednesday named retired Navy captain Randy Bogle as executive director.
Bogle will replace Larry Blumberg, who is retiring at the end of this year from the helm of the organization dedicated to helping civic and business leaders understand the role and impact of the military in San Diego.
"We knew it was going to be very difficult to find someone to replace Larry," said Jamie Moraga, who chaired a committee that conducted a nationwide search. Blumberg helped found the organization in 2004.
"He has been a strong and long-standing leader in our defense and military communities — everyone knows him," Moraga said. "Randy is more than qualified and well-positioned to begin where Larry will leave his legacy — and continue to grow SDMAC."
The transition period will begin immediately, with Bogle expected to fully take the reins in mid-December, according to SDMAC.
