As Palestine bids to be recognized as a full-fledged member of the United Nations, scholars at San Diego State University will lead a forum tonight on the contentious issues surrounding politics in the Middle East.
The University's Center for Islamic and Arabic Studies will host the teach-in. Political Science professor Jonathan Graubart is one of the experts who will be speaking and taking questions.
"The whole point of an academic setting is to give it a more elevated discourse," he said. "So people can feel free to share their views, their fears, their hopes, their anger, but in a setting where the conversation is at least more civilized."
The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Student Services East building, room 1401. Organizers hope many non-students will attend.
