Port Authority Trailer

Developers have been drooling over the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal, a sprawling industrial dock downtown, for more than a decade. It's 96 acres of cement covered with giant fuel silos and warehouses and is within walking distance of the convention center, hotels and San Diego’s bustling nightlife.

In our series, Port Authority, the KPBS/I-Newsource Investigations Desk documents the long financial and political relationship between elected officials and newspaper owner Doug Manchester and his CEO John Lynch. Who stands to win and lose if a new stadium is built at the site of the terminal and why is John Lynch claiming to have the support of one of the San Diego mayoral candidates?

Now two businessmen determined to build a football stadium on the terminal have taken over the county’s largest newspapers and have positioned themselves politically to push it forward.
